Proventricular Dilatation Disease (PDD)

Hi,
there is a bird disease called Proventricular Dilatation Disease or shortly PDD.

Even though it says only parrot-like birds are affected, this may pose a threat for canaries as well, seeing as they know just about nothing about the disease.

What do you think about this? Do you think it is likely to pose a threat to canaries? Or do you believe this is just fearmongering?
